Dear Women's Rights Activists, With abortion as a litmus test of this year's election, Greater Boston NOW is calling all progressive activists to counter the forces of the anti-choice movement. Reproductive rights are threatened both here in Massachussets and back in your home states. Don't lose your right to choose! We must join forces to preserve and extend women's reproductive rights. Upcoming events include: * Monthly clinic visibilities in Brookline. On the second Saturday of each month we meet in front of 1031 Beacon St, Brookline (8:15 am; Green Line C to St. Mary's stop). Every month over 100 anti-choice demonstrators intimidate and harrass women in front of the clinics, and we continue our successful counter-protests, helping to ensure access to the clinics and showing our support for those who exercise their right to choose. * October demonstration in front of area hospitals which are not currently providing comprehensive reproductive health care. * December action to oppose the violent rhetoric and actions that continue to fuel the climate that resulted in the murder of two women at the Brookline clinics in 1994. The local chapter of the National Organization for Women maintains its visible history of fighting for reproductive rights and all other women's issues. Our all volunteer organization strives to maintain a multi-strategy approach to women's rights, lobbying for feminist legislation and engaging in grassroot educational campaigns as well as direct actions. Work with us! * Join us at the Reproductive Rights Task Force meetings held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 pm at the NOW Office, 971 Commonwealth Ave, (Green Line B to Pleasant St). * Join us at the NOW Open House on the first Wednesday of each month at 7pm to learn about NOW's other activities. * Put us on your mailing list. * Call us about any events you are organizing. * NOW's Web page is at http://www.cybercom.net/~hypatia/now/now.html and we can list your events there too. We look forward to working with you in the fight for women's rights!
