ROSAT Mission
The ROSAT (Rontgensatellit) mission was a collaborative project between
the German space agency DARA, NASA, and the UK Science Research Council,
and was led by the
The satellite was launched on 1990 June 1 and ceased operations on 1999
Feb 12 after an extremely productive career. ROSAT was similar in
concept to the Einstein Observatory, with a somewhat improved mirror. At
its focal plane, its PSPC (Position Sensitive Proportional Counter) and
HRI (High Resolution Imager) detectors were an evolution of the Einstein
IPC and HRI. ROSAT also carried a British-built extreme ultraviolet telescope.
ROSAT HRI
HEA contributed ROSAT's HRI (High Resolution Imager) camera and also
provided data analysis software to the community.
