Stella was a copy of the Diamant-launched Starlette laser geodetic satellite. It was launched into a polar orbit to provide geodetic coverage of the polar regions missed by Starlette. Like Starlette, it had a mass of 48 kg and a diameter of 0.24 m. An additional 42 kg adapter/deployer was attached to the Ariane H10 stage.
