1998 Aug 31 KMS-1 launch

Eastward launch from Tonghae over Aomori region of Japan and over the Pacific. Note that the vehicle was hundreds of km up in space as it passed over Japan. Impacted the Pacific.

2012 Apr 12 KMS-3 launch

Lower stages flew south from Sohae; then upper stage flew SW to sun-sync orbit. Thought to use same trajectory as KMS-3-2 launch.

2012 Dec 12 KMS-3-2 launch

Lower stages flew south from Sohae; then upper stage flew SW to sun-sync orbit. My old estimate here of the lower sage impact point is probably wrong; I suspect it's more like the KMS-4 launch.

KMS-4 lower stages south with impact NE of Phillipines; upper stages SW to orbit.

The exact planned trajectory is unclear but this is one possible reconstruction. The lower stages flew southwest from Sohae; the second stage was meant to then head SE to polar orbit. The third stage perhaps would have made a further SW burn to sun-sync orbit. We'll know better what the plan was if they do a successful reflight.
